New Requirement for AMC Patriot Express Passengers Traveling with Pets

IMMEDIATE ATTENTION: Travel Management Companies (TMCs) and Transportation Offices (TOs)

The Defense Travel Regulation (DTR), Part 1, Chapter 103 has been updated to introduce a critical step for all pet travel on Patriot Express. Pet owners must provide the Travel Management Company (TMC) or Transportation Office (TO) an electronic copy of a signed Risk Acknowledgement Document (RAD) to be uploaded into the Global Air Transportation and Execution System (GATES) before pet space can be booked. Bookings without a RAD will be automatically cancelled by USTRANSCOM. A copy of the signed RAD must also be retained by the pet owner for their records and for check-in purposes.

If a pet owner declines to sign the RAD, the pet will not be booked.

This change is intended to ensure pet owners are aware of the inherent risks of air travel for their animals. For additional information and to obtain a copy of the RAD, visit AMC Pet Travel.

Lead Defense Travel Administrations (LDTA), DTAs, Quality Assurance Evaluators (QAEs), and TOs will need to update their TMC business rules to include a designated point of contact for customers with questions on Permanent Change of Station (PCS) and the new RAD requirement.

For complete and detailed information, please refer to the Defense Transportation Regulation (DTR), Part I, Chapter 103 [PDF].
