DoW Excellence in Practice Awards
Every year, DoW's top performers in travel are recognized for the value and the services they provide to their travel program by DTMO's Excellence in Practice Awards. Supervisors or colleagues can nominate an outstanding individual or team for accomplishments during the fiscal year (October 1, 2025 - September 30, 2026) in one of seven categories. Nominations are accepted through September 30, 2026.
Award Categories
The Beacon (NEW!)
A Major Command Transportation or Passenger Travel Office, department, or organizational unit whose demonstrated collective innovation, successful program execution, and community-wide service. This award can also honor those who may not exclusively process passengers but who manage critical, related transportation and travel logistics.
The Trailblazer (NEW!)
A local Transportation Office Lead whose leadership, technical expertise, and dedication have significantly optimized transportation operations for their organization and personnel.
The Champion
A Lead Defense Travel Administrator (LDTA) who goes above and beyond in providing mentoring and training to their organization.
The Elite
A local help desk team whose superior efforts result in continuous improvement and outstanding customer care.
The Icon
A major command or agency whose strategies and tactics enhance their travel program capabilities for their subordinate sites.
The Premier
An Agency Program Coordinator (APC) who demonstrates an extraordinary and exemplary commitment to cardholders and stakeholders through proactive education, effective communication, responsive customer service, and outstanding Program Coordination.
The Paramount
A Compliance Tool Administrator (CTA) whose perception and advisability through customer service, training, and staff development initiatives lead to an improvement in their organization's travel program.
Selection
DTMO’s EIP selection committee works with Service Component Representatives to choose award recipients based on weighted criteria outlined in the nomination form. Nominators and recipients will be informed of their selection in December 2026 and recognized at the annual GovTravels symposium in February 2027.
