UTD for MAP 68-24(E), Clarification of Entitlements for Retirement and Separation TravelThis item clarifies that entitlement to travel and transportation allowances for eligible retiring and separating Service members is based on two things, the first is the Service member is issued orders for any of the categories listed in JTR par. 051001, and the second is that the Service member and/or dependents must actually travel to the appropriate location identified in JTR section 0510. UTD for MAP 69-24(I), Clarification of Commercial Transportation Reimbursement for Child Care Pilot ProgramThis item clarifies the types of commercial transportation expenses that may be reimbursed when incurred by a child care provider during a permanent change of station (PCS) when child care is not available at a military child development center at the new permanent duty station (PDS) within 30 days of the Service member’s reporting date. Furthermore, the Service member is responsible for contacting the organization’s Travel Management Company (TMC) to make commercial reservations on behalf of the child care provider. UTD FOR MAP 69-25(R), Temporary Lodging Expense (TLE) Extension for Edwards AFB-Palmdale, CAUnder JTR, par. 050601-B3, the Air Force requested a TLE extension for the Edwards AFB-Palmdale, CA military housing area (MHA 457) because it has determined that the MHA is experiencing a housing shortage that prevents Service members from obtaining adequate permanent Government-owned, Government-controlled, privatized or private-sector rental housing. The authority for action is 37 U.S.C. § 452(b)(11). Due to a shortage of housing in the Edwards AFB-Palmdale, CA MHA 457, personnel require additional time to locate and secure permanent housing. This item extends the end date through which Edwards AFB Palmdale, CA is a location where Service members may receive extended TLE. Effective January 9, 2026.1/9/2026

The authority for action is 37 U.S.C. § 452(b)(11). Due to a shortage of housing in the Moody AFB, GA MHA081, personnel require additional time to locate and secure permanent housing. This item extends the end date through which Moody AFB, GA is a location where Service members may receive extended TLE up to 60 days. Effective December 22, 2025.12/22/2025

UTD for MAP 71-24(R), Increase Reimbursement for IDT Outside the Normal Commuting DistanceThis item increases the reimbursement of actual expenses, from $500 to $750, that the Secretary concerned may authorize or approve when Reserve Component members in the Selected Reserve are required to perform Inactive Duty Training outside the local commuting distance. This item was requested by the Army in accordance with 37 USC § 452(b)(9). Effective December 27, 2024.12/27/2024
UTD for MAP 71-25(S), Expand Transportation Reimbursement for Service members Assigned to AlaskaThis is a statutory (S) item implementing two mandatory provisions of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26). Section 623 and Section 7232 of the FY26 NDAA create legal authority for Coast Guard members assigned to a permanent duty station (PDS) in Alaska and for unaccompanied military Service members assigned to a PDS in Alaska, for not less than one year, to be reimbursed the cost of airfare from the member’s permanent duty station (PDS) to their home of record (HOR) (or state of legal residence, for Coast Guard members) when authorized by an officer of the grade O−6 and above. Under Section 7232 of the FY26 NDAA, eligible Coast Guard members may also receive airfare cost reimbursement for travel to another approved location within the U.S. and U.S. territories; however, the cost reimbursement will be limited to the cost of travel to the HOR or state of legal residence.
