Furthermore, the Service member is responsible for contacting the organization’s Travel Management Company (TMC) to make commercial reservations on behalf of the child care provider. | UTD for MAP 71-25(S), Expand Transportation Reimbursement for Service members Assigned to Alaska | This is a statutory (S) item implementing two mandatory provisions of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26). Section 623 and Section 7232 of the FY26 NDAA create legal authority for Coast Guard members assigned to a permanent duty station (PDS) in Alaska and for unaccompanied military Service members assigned to a PDS in Alaska, for not less than one year, to be reimbursed the cost of airfare from the member’s permanent duty station (PDS) to their home of record (HOR) (or state of legal residence, for Coast Guard members) when authorized by an officer of the grade O−6 and above. Under Section 7232 of the FY26 NDAA, eligible Coast Guard members may also receive airfare cost reimbursement for travel to another approved location within the U.S. and U.S. territories; however, the cost reimbursement will be limited to the cost of travel to the HOR or state of legal residence.
